GUIDELINES TO AUTHORS






Scope

The Indian Journal of Soil Conservation accepts original full length research articles, short communications, review articles, case studies, book reviews, experiences and opinions in the field of soil and water conservation, natural resource management, watershed management, soil-plant-animal relationships, conservation cropping, farming systems, agroforestry and pasture management, land degradation and rehabilitation, land use planning, socio-economics and policy issues and environment protection.

Review articles are expected to be of national and international coverage and suggesting future needs. Short communications, news and notes are primarily meant for quick communication and reducing the time lag. Contributions should be exclusively for the Indian Journal of Soil Conservation. Authors including co-authors should be members of the Indian Association of Soil and Water Conservationists (IASWC) and not in arrears of subscriptions..



The Manuscripts

The Manuscript should be typed double-spaced throughout on one side of A-4 size paper. Full length paper should be limited to 16 typed pages and organized under Abstract, Key words, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, and References. Tables and figures may be appended in the end.

Information should not be repeated in tables and figures. Table must be self-contained and explanatory. Figures include diagrams and photographs. Laser print outs of line diagrams are only accepted. Alternatively, each illustration can be drawn on white art card or tracing paper with Indian black ink using proper stencil. Legends, if any, should be included within the illustration. Illustration should have a number followed by a caption typed below the illustration. Lettering should be legible upon reduction in the size of figures. The photographs (black and white) should have a glossy finish with sharp contrast.

Binomial or trinomial nomenclature with authority must be shown for all the scientific names at the first listing. Crop varieties should also be identified at the first listing. S.I. units may be used for all measurements. All citations must be listed alphabetically at the end of manuscript. Citations should include name of all the authors with initials, the year of publication, complete title, journal title, volume and number inclusive of pages, e.g.

Authors

The intending contributors are advised to consult a current issue of the Indian Journal of Soil Conservation for format and style of presentation and other details for the preparation of manuscript. Authors should provide their complete address with E-mail, telephone and Fax for speedy processing of their papers. Kindly submit certificate of work or appropriate authorization for publication.

All papers are sent to referees for review and edited thoroughly. The authors should respond to the observations and incorporate suggested improvements. The revised article should be resubmitted within a month. Authors may submit a computer diskettes (CD) in addition to three hard copies of article for quick processing of the manuscript.



Reprints

The first author of the published paper shall receive 15 reprints as gratis.
